Why I started using Pinterest…

In 2018, I noticed that a client was getting web traffic referrals from Pinterest, even though we didn’t have a business account set up for her (thanks, Google Analytics!). Turns out people were pinning directly from her website and Instagram account, so I knew we had an opportunity for her to grow her audience via this platform.

After a few months, her profile blew up, and her website traffic did too. Even with 40,000 followers on Instagram, her website now gets 60% of her web traffic from Pinterest, while Instagram only generates 0.5%!

If you’re not using Pinterest in your marketing strategy, you’re missing out!

Okay, but why should I use it?

Glad you asked! Here are a few reasons why you should get on Pinterest (yes, we have data to back up our claims).

Pins last forever.

The shelf life of a typical Instagram post? 24-72 hours. I’ve seen pins get hundreds of thousands of monthly views, years after publishing them.

It’s made for shopping.

It’s been proven that Pinterest drives more web traffic to shopping sites than any other platform. According to research, 47% of users use the platform specifically to shop; 73% have made a purchase after seeing it on Pinterest.

This will only continue to increase, as Pinterest recently introduced several features to make it even easier for customers to shop.

The users have disposable income.

High income households are twice as likely to use Pinterest, and 38% have a college degree.
